November 2009 Regional Event - Madison, Wisconsin

AHDI is proud to present a regional event in conjunction with the Wisconsin Minnesota Chapter of AHDI. This single-day program is focused on bringing relevant and credit-worthy educational sessions to MT Students and Practicing MTs in the Wisconsin/Minnesota area, as well as to facilitate a networking environment in which AHDI members and nonmembers alike can meet with AHDI's National Board of Directors and share in the vision and direction that they are setting for our association and industry as a whole. The Wisconsin/Minnesota Chapter of AHDI is working directly with the AHDI Staff to provide a program of top-notch educational sessions in a student and a practitioner track to assist in the knowledge-base development of the future and current Medical Transcription workforce.

The November 2009 Regional Event will take place at the Sheraton Hotel in Madison, Wisconsin. The newly renovated Sheraton Madison Hotel is centrally located in Wisconsin’s state capital, and is within close range of all the major attractions such as Dane County Coliseum and Expo Center, Alliant Energy Center, Lake Monona and Mendota, State Street, and the campus of the University of Wisconsin. Full of charm and ambience, this property knows how to host a conference, from its atmosphere of friendliness to its great meeting space and facilities, its all but guaranteed that any meeting here will be a success.

A small overflow block of rooms has been secured at the Clarion Suites located less than a half mile southwest of the Sheraton on Rimrock Road.  This block contains rooms for Friday, November 13th and Saturday November 14th only.  The rooms available are studio suites with one queen size bed, a pull-out couch, refrigerator and microwave.  AHDI event attendees will receive the special room rate of $139 per night if they book their room using the number listed above and mention the group name "AHDI" when booking.  Rooms are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

**The AHDI room block at the Clarion Suites Hotel is only available through October 14th, 2009.**

Sheraton Madison 
A very small amount of rooms are available at our host hotel, the Sheraton Madison due to the Wisconsin Badgers home game occuring the same weekend as our event.  If you would like to check with the Sheraton for room availability you may use the online reservations link below.  Should any rooms be available, you will be granted the discounted group rate of $159 per night for rooms booked on Friday, 11/13/09 or Saturday, 11/14/09.

Special Presentation during the AHDI Board of Directors Meeting:

Eloiza Altoro-Acevedo, MS, CAE, Executive Director of the Society for Clinical Data Management (SCDM), and Paul Clarkson, a member of SCDM’s board of directors who is responsible for Functional Excellence in Clinical Data Management at the company Genentech, will speak during the AHDI Board of Directors meeting from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. CST on Friday, November 13 prior to the regional event.  They will provide an overview of SCDM and discuss standardized health information exchange and the integrity of data capture and document creation, as they relate to data management and clinical drug trials.  They also will briefly explore how medical transcriptionists could potentially transfer their skill set to a role in clinical data management.  Both their presentation and the board meeting are free to attend.

Registration for the November 2009 Regional Event will grant the attendee access to all activities on Saturday, November 14, 2009. The pricing structure will be as follows.
