For those who want to take association networking to a hands-on level, AHDI offers a venue of professional growth opportunities through leadership development. The benefits of getting involved in the association at a leadership level are many, both to the individual and to the association.
Our volunteer leadership plays a critical role in advancing the profession and delivering meaningful programs and services to our members. These leaders serve the association and the industry through:
- Local component and state/regional leadership
- Serving as a state/regional delegates
- Working on an AHDI committees, task forces, and advisory councils
- Contributing content to AHDI publications
- Contributing content to AHDI products and services
- Presenting at local, state/regional and national events
- Representing AHDI through alliance work with other healthcare organizations
- Serving on the AHDI Board of Directors
In addition to the service these roles provide to AHDI and the industry, they also afford members the opportunity to develop leadership, management, technical-writing, and public speaking skills that are invaluable to professional growth and employability.
How can you get involved in leadership with AHDI?
First and foremost, become a member. Demonstrate your commitment to the work of the association by embracing membership. Then start with involvement at the local or online chapter level. Get to know the association and its goals and objectives, and network with other members. Then consider a leadership role within your local or state/regional area. There are many leaders at the local and state levels who are eager to mentor new leaders and share what they have learned.
At the national level, there are many opportunities for local and state/regional leaders who are interested in serving the association as a whole. You may consider one of the following avenues of stepping into a national leadership role:
