Welcome Military Spouses!

MISSION: Medical Transcription
The Career That Moves with You!

The ideal career for military spouses
Many MTs work from their homes as independent contractors, subcontractors, or home-based employees. Because many employers and contractors receive and submit work over the Internet, an MT can live in Texas, work for a company based in Philadelphia, and transcribe for a hospital in Alaska. If you currently live in North Carolina but your spouse is being re-stationed in Washington, you can take your job with you. To learn more about medical transcription, please visit our Career in MT page.

Upcoming informational meetings
Informational meetings are being held on military bases across the United States, allowing military spouses to meet with industry professionals to learn more about medical transcription. To find out if there is a meeting being held near you, please contact Rebecca McSwain at rmcswain@ahdionline.com.

Funding resources for military spouse education
Several of the AHDI-approved educational programs accept federal Pell Grants, Sallie Mae Educational Loans, VA funds and GI Bills, as well as offer payment plans and military spouse discounts. In addition, there are some community-based programs providing support to military personnel from those communities.
