House of Delegates Update Hello from the House of Delegates. The May quarterly meeting was held on May 7th via webainar. Technology is amazing it allows delegates from all over the country to meet, discuss, and vote on issues that affect our membership. The lastest vote was to determine how a member would be counted for delegate determination. There was quite a hot debate on the the House of Delegates list serve regarding the topic. In our meeting we were also encouraged to attent the Advocay Summit. I would like to thank Colorado Member and AHDI-President Elect Susan Lucci CMT, RHIT, AHDI-F for leading the Colorado Delegation. I did not attend Advocacy Day but was a Delegate at the Colorado State Democratic Convention where I was able to speak briefly with Congressman John Salazar and House District #55 Representative Burnery Buscher. I hope that we will all take time to promote our profession with our Legislators. Turning our attention back to Advocacy day our association had some big wins. One of the Utah delegates has been asked to sit on a legislators healthcare committee, and another legislator wants to author a bill with regards to funding for military spouses, and yet a third legislator has asked to co-sponsor house bill HR 3800 Promoting Health Information Technology Act. This is amazing. The LIG has done a great job in the last 3 years. I want to encouage you to participate not only in your local chapters but on task force and committees on the national level. You do not have to be a delegate to the House of Delegates or even on the State Board to be a part of the National Organization. I hope to meet each of you at the Colorado State Convention June 27th and 28th.
