LuAnn Guilfoyle, CMT

I attended Schoolcraft Community College in Livonia, Michigan, and graduated with an Associate’s degree in addition to a Certificate in Medical Transcription. I passed AHDI’s CMT exam in August 2006. I currently work for Spheris and my favorite report type is operative notes. I love medical transcription and searching for new terms and the joy of the “ah ha” moment with a difficult dictator. I also enjoy the great freedom that working at home provides. I have been married for 26 years and currently have 1 dog—and I spend a lot of time in the park trying to burn up some of his Boston Terrier energy! I moved to Indiana 4+ years ago and the warmth and friendship extended to me by other INKY members has made me feel very welcome and at home here. I hope I reciprocate through my participation in our chapter. I am truly honored to be part of this great group of people! In 2007, I served as INKY Treasurer and now am the newsletter editor. I view the newsletter as a means for members to stay in touch and stay informed. In 2009, I will also serve as delegate elect. This is an apprenticeship in which I will shadow Nancy Isenberg, our delegate, and I will attend the HOD meetings and be ready assist in any way possible. My goal as delegate elect is to learn a lot and be part of Nancy’s team to help pass that knowledge onto the members and ensure I am always available to them.
