The Tidewater Chapter of the American Association for Medical Transcription held its first informational seminar in October 1982 at the Ramada Inn in Norfolk with an overwhelming 120 attendees. In May 1983, AHDI-TC became a fully recognized chapter.

AHDI-TC continues to organize a yearly symposium and has a yearly Transcriptionist of the Year award. Our chapter meetings provide informative lectures, preapproved continuing education units, and a warm atmosphere where medical transcriptionists can network and share information about medical updates and job opportunities.
