Does anyone have a best practice for typing hospital interim discharge summaries? We will have a doctor dictate an "interim" discharge summary while the patient is still in the hospital, and then when the patient is discharged, another doctor will want us to go into the interim summary and add some extra information for the last of the patient's stay. We think that the second doctor's information should be put on an actual discharge summary and not allowed to add to an interim which was dictated by another physician 1-3 days before. Can anyone help me?
