|CHDS Bridge Course (for CMTs)|
Bridging from a CMT to a CHDS
CMTs who earned their credential before the release of the current exam blue prints (before January 2011, with the exception of those who took the beta exam in fall of 2010), may bridge over to the CHDS by taking an online course. This course addresses the expanded healthcare documentation content found on the current exams but not covered under any previous CMT blue print.
The Bridge Course is available only to current CMTs. CMTs are not required to bridge to the CHDS credential and have the option of retaining their CMT credential.
About the Course
This is an 8-week, self-paced course that includes reading material and links to supplementary information for study along with practice questions for each of the following blue print objectives: 1.22, 1.23, 1.24, 1.25, 1.26, 1.27, 1.28, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6, 2.7, and 2.8. Course-takers must complete each end-of-section quiz and the final examination to successfully complete the course.
After Completing the Course
Successful completion of the course requires you to complete all content sections, including section quizzes, and pass the final exam at end of course. CMTs who pass the final exam will earn the CHDS designation, receive a new certificate, and earn 10 continuing education credits (CECs) toward end-of-cycle recredentialing.
Preapproved for 10 CECs: 4 Clinical Medicine, 4 Technology and the Workplace, 1 Professional Development, and 1 MT Tools
If you do not pass the course, you can take it again after 90 days. Failure to pass the bridge course will not impact your CMT status, recredentialing cycle, or recertification requirements.
Course Learning Objectives
Upon course completion, you will have an understanding of and be able to demonstrate competency against all 15 objectives found on the CHDS blue print. This augmented level-2 content falls across two industry-relevant knowledge domains:
Registration for each month is available the preceding month through the 25th. For example, if you want to take the course in December, you must register by November 25; if you want to take the course in January, you must register by December 25, and so on. Participants will be given access the first day of the month following the close of registration and will have access for 8 weeks.
In order to register for a course, you must be logged into the website.
Once you have registered, you will receive an email prior to the course start date with the link to AHDI’s training system to access the course. You will only be able to log in once the course has started. Please read all of the items contained in the Course Information section to familiarize yourself with the course contents.
