Coder I 

Summary: 

Reports to the Ancillary Coding Manager. Reviews all pertinent documentation, including but not limited to: physician documentation, nursing documentation, laboratory and radiology reports, treatment records, and other documentation within the electronic medical record. Selects and sequences appropriate diagnostic codes utilizing ICD-9 CM and/or ICD-10 CM codes. Code the following:

  • Ancillary Coding - ICD-9/ICD-10 diagnostic
  • Ancillary Coding - ICD-9/ICD-10 diagnostic coders

 

Educational Background:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Registered Health Information Technician preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree Registered Health Information Administrator preferred

 

Experience Preferred: 
  • One-year experience as a coder

 


Coder II 

Summary:

Reports to the Ancillary Coding Manager. Reviews all pertinent documentation, including but not limited to: physician documentation, nursing documentation, laboratory and radiology reports, treatment records, and other documentation within the electronic medical record. Selects and sequences appropriate diagnostic codes utilizing ICD-9 CM and/or ICD-10 CM codes. Code the following:

  • Ancillary Coding - ICD-9/ICD-10 diagnostic
  • Ancillary Coding - ICD-9/ICD-10 diagnostic coders

 

Educational Background:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Registered Health Information Technician required
  • Bachelor's Degree Registered Health Information Administrator preferred

 

Experience Preferred:
  • 2-3 years’ experience

 


HIM Technician

Summary:

Under general direction, accesses, inputs and retrieves information and problem solves using various computer systems. Acts as liaison for physician offices. Responsible for verification of completed dictation into system. May perform quality monitoring of patient information on transcribed reports.

 

Educational Background:
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent education and experience required

 

Experience Preferred:
  • Health Information Management (HIM) computer software

 


HIM Data Analyst 

Summary:

Maintains accountability for managing software/data needs and technical services for area of accountability, in collaboration with HIM and Technology and Information Solutions (TIS) staff. Performs the initial analysis of data, develops customized reports to facilitate meaningful interpretation of the data and provides education support to users.

 

Educational Background: 
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required

 

Experience Required: 
  • 2 years of related and relevant experience
  • experience with multiple software packages

 

 


Supervisor Operations HIM or Transcription  

Summary: 

Supervises and oversees the daily activities of the Health Information Management department to ensure the delivery of quality services. Coordinates and monitors health information management programs, policies and procedures and assumes the responsibility for ensuring that all programs are administered according to company standards and regulatory compliance.

 

Educational Background:
  • Health Information Management required

 

Experience Required: 
  • Experience in supervising or managing health information management
  • Experience working in a large healthcare organization

 


HIM Senior Analyst 

Summary:

Trains and mentors health information management (HIM) staff.  Coordinates work flow. Performs quality monitoring and participates in activities to improve outcomes for the integrity of the electronic health record (EHR).

 

Educational Background:
  • Associates degree required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • RHIT/RHIA

 

Experience Preferred:
  • 5 years of HIM experience
