The State of EHRs: Where Does Your Voice Matter?

Reed Gelzer, MD, MPH

Dr. Gelzer is Health IT Policy, EHR Specialist for Provider Resources, Inc. After 14 years in clinical practice and EHR support, Dr. Gelzer currently also serves HL7 EHR Standards development, the American Bar Association’s Health Law section, Sedona Conference Work Group on digital records retention and production, and Federal Agencies and patient care organizations.

Darice Grzybowski, MA, RHIA, FAHIMA

Ms. Grzybowski has 35+ years of healthcare experience, holds a master’s in clinical data management, and is an Academy Approved ICD10-CM/PCS Trainer. In 2005 she founded and is President of H.I.Mentors - a consulting, software, and marketing firm. She is a sought after national speaker and author in the health informatics community and winner of multiple awards. 


Ms. Grzybowski will speak on Saturday, July 15, at 8:20 a.m.




The Rise of the Superbugs: Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria

Karl Klose, PhD

Dr. Klose is a professor of microbiology at the University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA). Dr. Klose received his PhD in Microbiology at UC Berkeley and performed postdoctoral studies in microbial pathogenesis at Harvard Medical School. In 2004 Dr. Klose joined UTSA and is the founder of the South Texas Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases, which consists of 18 infectious disease laboratories. 


Dr. Klose will speak on Saturday, July 15, at 2:55 p.m.

Continuing Education Credits

The program will provide continuing education credits (CECs) for CMTs and CHDSs. The following is a list of the CEC categories that will be available:

  • CM - Clinical Medicine
  • CoM - Complementary Medicine
  • ML - Medicolegal Issues
  • MTT - Medical Transcription Tools
  • PD - Professional Development
  • TW - Technology and the Workplace


In addition to the program being pre-approved for CMTs and CHDSs to earn CECs, AHIMA credential holders can earn CEUs. This program has been approved for 20 continuing education units for use in fulfilling the continuing education requirements of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Granting prior approval from AHIMA does not constitute endorsement of the program content or its program sponsor.
