A healthy college basketball player collapses in the middle of a game and dies. An infant's heart suddenly begins racing and quivers into atrial fibrillation. A teenager is startled when her cell phone rings, collapses on a public street, and no one is able to revive her. All of these are examples of Sudden Arrhythmia Death Disorders (SADS), hidden hereditary conditions that can snatch away a life in a matter of minutes. SADS can strike unexpectedly. Pat Stettler, CMT, AHDI-F, is program administrator for a national online medical transcription program at Everett Community College in beautiful Washington State. Since falling in love with MT in 1984, Pat has worked in an office and managed a small transcription service, becoming an educator in 2000. She has served on a variety of committees for AHDI and is a past member of the AHDI Board of Directors. Her introduction to sudden arrhythmia death syndrome began on February 12, 2008.
