We are pleased to invite dynamic industry experts, educators, practitioners, and authors to submit abstracts
for general sessions, panels, and workshops for the 2007 AHDI Annual Convention & Expo, which is being held in
Reno, Nevada. We invite everyone who wants to ensure the evolution of the medical
transcription profession to submit abstracts under any of the applicable themes below, to be reviewed as
potential presenters.
About AHDI
The Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity is the world’s largest association for medical
transcription. The mission of AHDI is to lead the evolution of medical transcription, and represent and advance
the profession and its practitioners.
Change is Everything is our convention theme for 2007. We encourage each presenter to consider the
critical time of transition the industry finds itself in and the importance of personal and professional change as well as evolution and growth as we move into the electronic future. The only thing that is certain in life is change, and we are all constantly doing so as we learn and evolve in order to secure a vital role for the documentation specialist in modern healthcare. For more information on our program and the
meeting location, please visit the Annual Convention & Expo events section of the
AHDI website.
Expanding on the overall theme of Change is Everything, each of the three educational session days during this year's convention will have their own sub-theme. Thursday, August 16 will focus on Language and Communication, Friday, August 17 will be aimed at Personal Health and Wellness and Saturday, August 18 will deal specifically with Leadership. During each of these three days there will be three concurrent educational tracks running which are Medical, Industry Trends, and Transcription Practice . Frequent presenters are not
discouraged from submitting an abstract, but your topic and material must be new and original for this
audience.
Educational Tracks
Medical Track - topics should be cutting edge, new procedures, diagnostics, and treatments in any specialty. Presenters should be clinical practitioners or recognized experts in medicine-related fields.
Industry Trends Track - topics should be directed primarily to supervisors/managers, practitioners, editors, proofreaders, and QA specialists, although not necessarily excluding students or educators. As noted elsewhere, sessions emphasizing knowledge and skills pertinent to the evolving role of medical transcriptionists in the electronic health record would be considered particularly pertinent.
