Session Description

Join us for this presentation to learn about those who work in the pathology department and what their roles are. Find out why pathology transcription is done onsite in the hospital and what administrative support is given in a hospital lab by transcriptionists. Our presenter will discuss a variety of procedures, specimens, and some rare specimens that come into the department.

 

Attendees will learn

  1. About the team members and their roles.
  2. Different types of specimens and gross descriptions.
  3. The importance of a frozen section.
  4. Some of the procedures for each specialty.
  5. The intricacies of different biopsies.

 

About the Speaker

Cynthia Francis, RHDS, is a graduate of a two-year associate degree program, Applied Science: Medical Transcription, from Kirtland Community College. She has nine years of experience in a hospital lab with the pathology department. In addition to transcription, job responsibilities include administrative support duties.
