Description: Discover how to be a more effective online educator or student. This webinar focuses on current best practices in teaching online/hybrid courses. Discussion will center around the following topics: effective course design, accessible content, copyright and fair use, discussions and assessments, and instructor standards. 


Educators will be exposed to a helpful online course design/review checklist (based on Quality Matters standards) as well as resources for effective online teaching.


Students will be exposed to a greater understanding of how an online course works, how to navigate an online course, and what constitutes a quality online course.


Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the concept of effective course design/navigation.
  2. Understand what online accessibility means.
  3. Understand what copyright and fair use means.
  4. Understand how to effectively teach or use a quality online course.


Bio: Ann Minks has worked and/or taught in the medical records/documentation field for over 25 years. She has taught medical transcription, medical coding, medical billing, and medical assisting administrative classes at multiple facilities and institutions. She is currently tenured faculty in charge of the medical administrative programs at Bellevue College (the largest college in Washington State), where she also serves as the Online Pedagogy Lead, overseeing online teaching best practices. Her other area of interest includes health informatics and management, and she was recently invited to consult with the McGraw-Hill EHR development team on their new training products.
