Integrate Technology into Your LMS

Tara Murphy

April 12, 2017

CEC: 1 PD or 1 TW

Cost: $5 Student Members/$15 Members/$25 List Price

Want to spice up your learning management system (LMS) with educational and interactive technology tools? Using the Canvas course platform, this live demonstration will introduce different forms of technology that can be integrated into your course to help increase student engagement and instructor presence.

Participants will learn how to create interactive video presentations, enhance their discussion boards, and create an interactive picture for review or to introduce a new subject. Increase student engagement by incorporating interactive resources that can be used for fun or slightly competitive review games. Most of these tools can be embedded into your LMS, which will help with the fluidity of your course. Join me for a fun webinar showing great tools to add to your teaching toolbox.

Educators and those wanting to learn more about tools that enhance an LMS should attend this webinar. Tools demonstrated will be shown using the Canvas platform but principles taught and technologies shown may be applied in a variety of LMSs.

Learning Objectives:

1. Demonstrate how a variety of tools can be used in the classroom.

2. Explain how to make instructor presence known using these tools.

3. Learn how student engagement (face to face, hybrid, or online course) increases through use of this technology.

About the Speaker

Tara Murphy has worked at Everett Community College for six years in the Cosmetology Department. Over that time their program has gone paperless, using iPads, eBooks, and Canvas for all course material.

Tara has worked with eLearning as a faculty mentor for four departments, including one-on-one meetings to help with their Canvas courses, integrate tools to help increase student engagement, and to institute new interfaces and accessibility of course content. She has also presented on these topics to their Course Design Institute and Innovation Academy.

Tara is very passionate about technology in the classroom and continues to add new forms of technology into her courses each quarter to reach all the learning styles of her students.
