Mayo Clinic Provider Quality Program

In this session we will walk through Mayo Clinic’s implementation of Epic and M*Modal products and the provider quality program that was introduced post go-live. We will touch on the historical documentation practices at Mayo Clinic, provider training with the transition to Epic, and the development and implementation of the provider quality program, including delivery of reviews. Benefits experienced since Epic go-live, challenges that have been overcome, and current state and future goals will also be explored.

  1. Historical background and need for provider quality program.
  2. Provider training modalities.
  3. How the provider QA program was developed.
  4. How delivery of provider reviews is accomplished.
  5. Future goals of PQA program and benefits to Epic documentation.


Jennifer Styer

Jennifer Styer is a quality supervisor at Mayo Clinic and has worked for Mayo for 21 years. Jennifer has developed several quality programs to review documentation for accuracy that is created by internal HDS staff, outsourced vendor staff, scribes, and providers. She is an RHIT, CCS-P and has a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management.








Jackie Schickling

Jackie Schickling has moved on to another position within Mayo Clinic but was previously the quality manager at Mayo Clinic for the Documentation Services Department. She has a degree in Sales and Management and has worked at Mayo Clinic for 17 years and held a variety of roles and leadership positions all within HIMS. Jackie has worked extensively with implementing different documentation quality programs and worked to converge and standardize site and regional programs to an Enterprise model.
